About the Google Search Appliance

The search.nrao.edu page incorporates a Google Mini search appliance and brings Google-quality searching to the NRAO intranet (including internal content).

The Google Mini has a limit of 300,000 documents (web pages, PDF files, Word files, etc.) that it will index and search. This has required us to limit the scope of the search to exclude the following areas of content:

• Previous revisions of Wiki/Wikio pages
• The GBT resource calendar (http://gbrescal.gb.nrao.edu/webcal/)
• Several automatically generated documentation areas (cvcomp lfadoc, evla software engineering, vlbiobs, etc.)

If the information you are looking for is contained in one of these areas, you can search for it using the public Google search engine (google.com). A convinient 'Public Search' button is available on the results page to quickly run your search again on Google.com.

NOTE: The Google Mini-based search is only available internally.
Search.nrao.edu will show a public search page to users outside of NRAO's network.
